Preface
This charter should be read and understood by all Guild members. If you have any questions or remarks, you are encouraged to contact an Officer. The charter is subject to change and routinely assessed to conform to the needs of the guild.
Overview
Hawaiians is a Horde Guild on the World of Warcraft Oceanic PVP Server Thaurissan. We are based in Hawaii and the vast majority of our members live or have roots in the islands. The leadership of Hawaiians shares a purpose of organization and progression to end game content. We are a guild that believes in mastering your class, fellowship, and building a strong guild by working together to achieve common goals. We believe in playing the game with a serious mind and a focus on guild and character progression. At the same time we believe in having fun, often at each others expense.
Mission Statement
Hawaiians is primarily a raiding guild committed to 25 member raid level content. While we believe in and support our PvP members, we recognize the Battleground and Arena Team formats and its flexibility to gather the best individual players across the server, regardless of guild affiliation, and its current honor/arena point system which recognizes individual and team efforts. The primary focus of Hawaiians is to create a supportive community where players can enjoy playing and experiencing PvE content which would otherwise be unreachable as a solo player or with only a small group.
Philosophy
Guild > Individual. We expect our guild members to understand that guild progression is more important than character progression. The sole reason we have progressed as far as we have is because everyone works together as a team.
Guild Objectives
(1) To progress through end-game content at a steady pace while maintaining a fun atmosphere for our members.
(2) To encourage guild members to help themselves and one another in achieving reputation, badge, and honor rewards outside of raiding which will improve their gear and raid performance.
(3) To adapt, communicate, cooperate, and coordinate with one another to achieve common goals, leetness and ultimately pure pwnage in game!
Guild Tabard
Our guild tabard is earth in color with gold borders, fixed with a royal crown. We see our tabard selection as a symbol of unity and a reminder which uniquely defines us. The guild is encouraged to have their guild tabard on at all times. We should wear our guild tabard and name with pride.
Code of Conduct
Members of the Hawaiian guild are expected to act as adults, moderate their own behavior, socialize and be active members in the guild. The use of malicious racist remarks, swearing, excessive CAPS, spamming and bullying are strictly forbidden. Members are expecting to treat each other with respect.
Creating drama in guild is frowned upon as it threatens the stability of the entire guild. Drama Queens will be warned and/or demoted for creating disturbances. Be constructive and reasonable in any concerns or criticisms and address them privately or keep them to yourself. If you have a previous reputation for drama or like to cause trouble, this is not the guild for you.
Real life (RL) comes first. Members are expected to be loyal to the guild and have a responsibility to attend raids and events regularly. At the same time, members need to use common sense to not put your RL activities or obligations aside. Members will not be penalized for unforeseen RL scenarios but as a courtesy, inform the officers in-game or through our forums regarding any cancellations on previous commitments.
Grouping
Please remember your actions reflect upon the guild's reputation and sullying that reputation is not allowed. Considerate game play is advised and includes sharing, donating time to guild members and projecting a courteous attitude towards one another as well as Horde outside the guild. Begging is not allowed in or out of the guild and giving to beggars is frowned upon. Anti-social behavior such as ninjaing, insulting, threatening, or bullying players is grounds for being banned.
Raiding
During raids, the Raid Leader’s instructions MUST be obeyed at all times, immediately and without question. Failure to do so may result in unnecessary wipes and other problems. Frequent insubordination will result in warnings, raid suspensions or demotions. Raids will be setup according to class balance and not based solely upon who signed up first. It will be up to the Raid Leader and Officers to ensure that optimal raid balance requirements are met. If you are not offered a spot in a raid, please be patient and realize that your time will come if you meet raid performance standards. Do not spam the raid leader, guild chat or anyone else to secure a seat for yourself or another member. The guild will be notified when invites go out and when they close. All Bind on Equip. loot dropped in a raid will be collected for the guild bank. All Bind on Pick up loot that is not needed will be disenchanted at RL/Officer discretion and collected for the guild bank.
Mains & Alts
Mains > Alts when it comes to raid invites and loot distribution. Members with Alts must select one character to be their permanent main raiding character and declare a raiding spec. Members may not declare a different main unless recommended by an Officer and approved by the Guild Leader; no exceptions. The guild is committed to gearing up everyone’s main character to progress on to higher raid content. The Raid Leader reserves the right to request an Alt be brought to a raid to ensure raid balance and performance standards are met.
PvP
This is a PvP server. Kill all Alliance on sight. Guild members understand that we play on a PvP server and that Alliance are our direct competitors on the open field; thus it is our job to eliminate the competition. Remember Red= Dead.
Grace
All guild members are expected to accept suggestions and recommendations for improvement with an open mind. Members are expected to be team players and must be willing to cooperate, coordinate and do so happily. Members will be evaluated and assessed routinely to meet performance standards and may be required to adjust their character for the benefit of the raid.
Classes & Specs
We do not require members to be specced a certain way to be in the guild or to remain in the guild. In fact, we encourage players to explore the depths of their talents and abilities. The more you play with your spec, the more you learn about your class. Spec however you want, whichever way you want, whenever you want. Play the game to have fun... because that's what it’s all about!
HOWEVER, given this flexibility...
If you are interested in participating in a raid, and have signed up under a particular spec, you are expected to specced accordingly at raid start time. All members are responsible for managing their own gold for respeccing. If you run out of gold prior to a raid event, and do not have enough funds to respec, you will be left out of the raid. Raid Leaders will not beg or pay for players to respec for a raid.
Officers will continue to monitor member progression on the WoW Armory and in game. and will suggest members for raid invites based on the quality of their potential contribution to the raid. It is up to each member to prove their excellence at whichever spec they play. Leetness is not easily ignored. :)
Regardless of what spec you are, Raid Leaders are free to choose and decide which players they believe will contribute most effectively to the raid. It is at the discretion of the Raid Leaders to determine the raid group make up. This may be based on spec, gear or overall play style. Our Raid Leaders recognize that:
1) Spec does not mean ability to play that spec well;
2) Spec does not make up for lack of gear.
Read your class specific forums. Listen to your Officers. The Hawaiians Officers have the best intentions for our members and want each member and the guild to do well. These are players who are experienced with their class and will frequently have very good advice on improvement.
Raid Leaders are more inclined to take players who show exemplary knowledge of their class and spec. Positive attitude and teamwork are also a factor. While we do not require specific specs or gear to join raids, it will of course be easier to invite someone who is already spec'd beneficially to help the group or who is clearly geared up in that spec. And don't kid yourself, gear IS important. Grind to get it.
Lastly, remember Grace and Guild Philosophy: Respeccing for certain encounters are good examples of this in practice.
