-Vent Policy-
The leadership team of the Hawaiians Guild has selected Vent to be our vocal communication tool. It can be used for all situations which require a verbal interaction to enhance your WOW game play experience. The luxury of using Vent is open to all Guild members and should be used with respect. You should be on your best behavior (humor is welcomed), practice a sense of maturity, and use appropriate language because you will not be the only individual benefiting from using this tool. Above all, the rules of using Vent command your respect and the Vent Admins will act swiftly to address any concerns.
What can I do in Vent?
You may use Vent to interact with other Guild members. Talk story, hang out, form a pug, pvp, run an instance and even create your own raid group. Although bringing non-guild members to Vent is acceptable, it is your duty to inform them of this Vent policy. Note that Guild members have priority in the use of Vent and Guild activities including Raids have top priority above all. The Admins reserve the right to clear Vent out in order to make room for the needs of the Guild.
What kind of name can I create to use Vent?
It is recommended that you name your Vent login using your main character name in the Guild. No inappropriate names or phonetics please. This is to help everyone understand who you are rather than trying to guess if you are a disguised Guild member or an unwanted eavesdropping spectator. If you are unidentified, you may be removed from Vent.
Why can't I access all Vent channels?
All guild members have access to the majority of all channel rooms. If you have access to a channel, you may use it freely. There are specific channels reserved for specific individuals because they have requested a little more privacy to meet their needs. If you would like a special channel, please make a formal request to an officer. Although all requests may not be granted, we will try to accommodate your request as best we can if it makes sense. Example: Requests that will be rejected “I need my own channel to chat with my friends.”
What are some Vent protocols?
In addition to what has been mentioned so far, you will be expected to know when it’s an appropriate time for you to be speaking in Vent. If we are in a Raid, your primary responsibility will be to listen. That’s it. All clarifying questions should be communicated ingame in Raid chat. If you are not a designated individual (an officer, a raid leader or a person asked to provide commentary), you keep quiet and respect the Vent channel so that your fellow Guild mates can listen to what is being communicated. You should not bring in friends/others to our raid channels to have them share their ideas of triumph and strategy by interrupting our Raid Leaders and speaking above them. We do not want to create an environment undermining what credibility our raid leaders have.
Are there consequences if Vent is abused?
Understand the rules of Vent are in place for good reason. Any abuse to Vent may cause unnecessary drama, misinformation, miscommunication, wipes, and chaos and spawn a channel of 25+ pissed people. This is not good and all Admins will correct each occurrence swiftly and the consequences will be harsh. You may be removed from the Vent channel, globally muted, kicked or even banned from Vent altogether. The Admins will not justify themselves because all users of Vent are obligated to read through and understand the policies set in place.
I was accused of abusing a Vent policy, what should I do?
If you wish to regain your Vent accessibility, you always have the option of discussing any matter with your officers. The officers are more than willing to hear you out and try to understand what happened.
